The Junk Liveaboards Presents: Special Leopard Shark Dive Research Cruise with Oceans For All

(by: Renske Lauterbach – Marketing Assistant with The Junk Liveaboards)

The Junk Liveaboards has teamed up with Oceans For All Foundation to organise two special Leopard/Zebra Shark Expeditions: 8-12 April and 4-8 May. The aim of these two dive liveaboard trips is to assess the current numbers of leopard sharks in the Andaman Sea around Southern Phuket and the Similan Islands. The conclusions of this research provide the basis for the Conservation Petition. This petition is to be presented to the Thai government with the ultimate goal to protect the Leopard Sharks and their habitat in Thailand. Anyone with a diving qualification is welcome to join these 4 night/5 day expeditions.

The first trip in April ventures out to the Similan and Surin Islands, the second expedition in May focuses on the area south of Phuket & Koh Phi Phi. Are you a fan of leopard sharks and do you want to make a difference? Be part of the change for leopard sharks!

The Junk and Oceans For All Leopard Shark Expeditions

A marine scientist from the Thai government together with David Martin, founder of the Phuket based non-profit organisation “Oceans For All Foundation”, will lead us through this leopard shark population survey. There will be an educational programme on these sharks and their desperate need for endangered status together with diving, snorkeling, collection of eDNA (environmental DNA) samples and photographic opportunities for all who would like to help and join. Bring your cameras and be a part of this essential conservation work!

The Junk is the designated research vessel for both leopard shark expeditions. She comfortably accommodates 18 guests in 6 cabins with air-conditioning and en-suite bathrooms including hot showers. Choose between twin/doubles, triples or quad cabins. For bookings and more information on the Expeditions, contact: info@thejunk.com or call: 081-0142748.
